MARKETING AND SALES

The demand for marketing and sales vocabulary is high. After all, unless you know the words and phrases needed to sell a product - from “end-of-season sales” to “trial orders” to “payment terms” - you won’t make any profit.

As for the supply of this in-demand vocabulary - just watch this video!

BANKING AND STOCK EXCHANGE

People don’t like to talk about money, but if you don’t know how to discuss accounts, loans, and credit with your bank, and commissions, bonds, and dividends with your broker - how will you make money?

More importantly, how will you avoid losing money? After all, the last thing you want to hear your broker say is “Easy come, easy go”…

Watch this video to learn the words, phrases, and questions related to money and finance.

ECONOMICS AND FINANCE

The bottom line for every business is money. When the time arrives to review the annual financial report, you will need to know how to discuss the company’s operating profit and net revenue (“Yes! We can stand on our own two feet”), as well as its capital expenditure and taxes paid (“Are these figures accurate?!”).

Learn all of the necessary words and phrases in this video.

CONTRACTS AND AGREEMENTS

It’s extremely important to know what you are agreeing to, when you sign a contract. After all, you will be bound to the terms and conditions of that contract, including payments, shipping, licensing, and/or compensation terms.

This video will teach you everything you need to know to sign a contract with confidence.

Oh, but don’t “get carried away” and think that signing contracts is a “piece of cake”. You should still have your lawyer look over all contracts!

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

From the first prototype to the finished product, the R&D (research & development) department develops the products that are profitable for your business. Of course, products don’t sell themselves - they must be presented and marketed to potential customers.

This video presentation will cover the following points:

·         Describing the development and manufacturing process

·         Presenting and marketing products to potential customers

MEETINGS AND NEGOTIATIONS

In business, you often need to meet and negotiate with clients, associates, suppliers and more. This video will teach you various words and phrases used in meetings and negotiations.

What’s that? You want to learn ALL of the vocabulary related to meetings and negotiations, not just some of them?

Well, we can’t cover everything in this video, but here’s a good compromise: This video will teach you the most useful words and phrases you need. Do we have a deal?

OK, so let’s make an appointment to watch this video. How about now?

CORPORATE MANAGEMENT

In order to get around in the world of corporate management, it’s important to know who the main players are, from the Managing Director to the shareholders and independent contractors.

You also need to know what types of paperwork will be piled up on your desk, including newsletter bulletins, memos, and reports - and how to hire new employees to take care of that paperwork for you!

Finally, it is useful to know how to give those main players and employees advice, for example: “If I were in your place I would try to... send me less paperwork” or “I think it would be a good idea to... go through all of this paperwork for me”.

TRANSPORTATION AND INSURANCE

Chances are your customers are not all located in the same city as you. They may be in different parts of the country, or in different countries.

This video covers all the vocabulary you need to ship your product to wherever your customers are, and to insure your product against damage or loss during shipping.

EXHIBITIONS AND TRADE FAIRS

Exhibitions and trade fairs are a great opportunity to present your product, distribute brochures and meet potential customers.

This video will teach you the words and phrases you need in order to reserve a stand and participate in an exhibition or trade fair.

If you don’t watch this video, then don’t complain when you are given a stand in the very furthest corner of the fair, while your competitors get a stand in the centre of the fair!

ADVERTISING AND PUBLIC RELATIONS

If you don’t advertise your products, no one will be aware of and purchase them. However, if you advertise them badly - with uninteresting, uninspired, or ungrammatical ads - your advertising efforts could do more harm than good.

Likewise, P.R. presents your company to the public, but a less-than-perfect P.R. effort could result in a bad image for your company.

This is why it is so important to be able to communicate with your advertising agency and P.R. department.

Watch this video to learn all of the necessary vocabulary.

LEGAL ASPECTS

“Dispute”, “liabilities”, “arbitration”, “damages”… These are words you don’t want to have to learn, but you need to learn them just in case.

This video will teach you all the vocabulary you need, in the unfortunate event that you or your company runs into legal problems.
